Lowbacca, or Lowie, was born on Kashyyyk, the Wookie homeworld. Wookies are naturally very close to the Force, and Luke Skywalker was not surprised when Lowbacca was brought to the academy as a young adolescent (19 years old). He quickly made friends with Jacen and Jaina Solo, and later the warrior princess Tenel Ka. He had a belt-ridden translator droid, MTD, programmed by C-3P0, with much the same personality. He also had an affinity for mechanical things, as implemented by Chewbacca.

While at the academy, Lowie encountered many hardships and made many enemies. He was involved in defending the Jedi Academy from the Shadow Academy. Lowie and Jaina used their combined technical skills to rebuild a crashed TIE fighter from the attack on Yavin IV. They assumed the pilot to be dead, but Qorl not only was alive, but in good enough condition to take back the TIE fighter, fitted with a hyperdrive from Lowie, and escape.

Lowie was also captured by a creature called the Nightsister, Yamith Kai, who tried to turn Lowbacca to the Dark Side of the Force, and very nearly succeeded. But eventually Lowie was able to repel the dark thoughts and free himself.

When he graduated from the academy, Lowie became a teacher, specializing in use of the Force with non-Jedi technology, such as blasters, bowcasters, droids, and starships. When Desann and his Imperial Remnant Forces attacked Skywalker's Academy, Lowie was involved in the defense of the temple and met Kyle Katarn briefly after the incident.

Chewbacca was killed in a fight with a Kilrathi over a game, which was devastating to Lowbacca. The senselessness of the death made it all that more hurtfull to Lowbacca. He soon began questioning everyone, including Luke Skywalker, and became disenchanted with the current Academy. He left to find his own truth.

Lowie came to Tatooine in the Rebel Adventure to find himself. It was the old stomping ground of his uncle. Ridden with the Force, Lowie hopes to better understand his place in the Universe by studying Tattooine

After meeting Ranger, a pilot, on Tattooine, Lowie managed to combine the Daisy and Rebel Adventure into one functioning ship, and began running spices for Buzz.

When Ranger turned to the darkside, she became his nemesis.
